Troubleshooting

Below is a list of common error codes for various MULTIVAC Vacuum Packing Machines, if your error is not shown please contact the MULTIVAC service department on 01793 425800.

♦MALFUNCTIONS WITH DIAGNOSTIC MESSAGE

Error Code Er 1:

Cause: Reference voltage is outside the limits, incorrect supply voltage
Solution: Notify the service department

Error Code Er 2:

Cause: Data loss (settings) or control switched on for the first time
Solution: Re-enter the settings data - If error occurs frequently, notify the service department

Error Code Er 3:

Cause: Data loss in EEPROM (set-up settings)
Solution: Select operating mode 'Calibrate', error will disappear - If error occurs frequently, notify the service department

Error Code Er 4:

Error in pressure measuring system:
Cause: Pressure sensor is defective or line to the pressure sensor is clogged
Solution: If error happens often, replace the pressure sensor

Cause: Vacuum valve was <700 mbar during "close cover"
Solution: If error occurs frequently, notify the service department

Note: The machine can operate further if the pressure setting is set to '999' and the evacuation is only performed based on time

Error Code Er 6:

Because the pressure no longer dropped, the set pressure setting was not reached after an additional minute and the packing process was cancelled:

Cause: The pressure settings is below the pressure achievable by the pump
Solution: Increase the pressure setting

Cause: Leak in the system (seal or hose)
Solution: Replace defective parts

Cause: Product with a high percentage of water (eg. fresh meat)
Solution: Increase the pressure setting

Error Code 67:

Cause: Vacuum pump does not switch off
Solution: Notify the service department

Cause: Ventilation valve does not open
Solution: Notify the service department

Error Code 68:

Cause: No gas available or near end
Solution: Check inert gas or ensure there is sufficient gas supply

Cause: Stop valve for the gas supply closed
Solution: Open the stop valve for the gas supply

Cause: Gas hose has a kink in it
Solution: Remove the kink in the gas hose

Cause: Value for the gas flushing pressure is set such that it cannot be reached
Solution: Correct the value for Gas flushing pressure

Cause: The vacuum sensor is incorrectly calibrated
Solution: Notify the service department

Cause: Vacuum sensor is defective
Solution: Notify the service department

Cause: Gas valve does not open
Solution: Notify the service department

Error Code 69:

Cause: Value for the Evacuation pressure is set so low that it cannot be reached
Solution: Correct the value for Evacuation pressure

Cause: Vacuum hose between the chamber and the vacuum sensor is clogged, missing or leaking
Solution: Notify the service department

Cause: Vacuum hose is loose, leaking or clogged
Solution: Notify the service department

Cause: Chamber lid gasket not air-tight
Solution: Notify the service department

Cause: Vacuum sensor is defective
Solution: Notify the service department

Cause: Vacuum pump was not being triggered or the vacuum pump is defective
Solution: Notify the service department

Cause: Vacuum pump leaky
Solution: Notify the service department

Cause: Filter in the line to the vacuum sensor is dirty and blocked
Solution: Notify the service department

Error Code 80:

Cause: Leak in hose connections
Solution: Notify the service department

Cause: Leak in vacuum hose
Solution: Notify the service department

Cause: Leak in vacuum sensor and associated line is leaking
Solution: Notify the service department

Error Code 81:

Cause: Sealing diaphragm leaks
Solution: Notify the service department

♦MALFUNCTIONS WITHOUT DIAGNOSTIC MESSAGE

Machine does not run:

Cause: Machine is switched off
Solution: Switch on the machine

Cause: Power plug is unplugged
Solution: Plug in the power plug

Chamber lid does not remain closed despite pump running:

Cause: Chamber lid not pressed down for long enough
Solution: Press chamber lid closed more firmly and for longer

Cause: Chamber lid gasket is dirty
Solution: Clean the chamber lid gasket

Cause: Chamber lid gasket is damaged
Solution: Notify the service department

Seal seam not airtight/pack is slack:

Cause: Sealing time is set incorrectly
Solution: Correct the sealing time

Cause: Target pressure value incorrectly set
Solution: Correct the target pressure value

Cause: Pouch neck is clamped by chamber lid
Solution: Insert the film pouch so that the pouch neck lies within the chamber.

Cause: Seal seam is dirty
Solution: Keep sealing bar and film pouch clean

Cause: Pack not air-tight
Solution: Use a new film pouch

Cause: Film pouch not suitable
Solution: Use a film pouch suitable for sealing

Cause: The sealing force is not sufficient
Solution: Test settings. Sufficient sealing force is only achieved if the target pressure is set under 400 mbar.

Cause: Sealing bar damaged
Solution: Notify the service department

The target pressure value is not reached:

Cause: The set target pressure is not achieved (e.g. product contains water)
Solution: Set a higher target pressure

Cause: Chamber lid gasket is dirty
Solution: Clean the chamber lid gasket

Cause: Insufficient oil quantity or oil in the vacuum pump is too old
Solution: Refill or replace oil

Cause: Chamber lid gasket is damaged
Solution: Notify the service department

Cause: Evacuation system is not airtight
Solution: Notify the service department

Odour or smoke:

Cause: Air de-oiling element defective
Solution: Notify the service department

Cause: Oil check valve of vacuum pump is blocked
Solution: Notify the service department
